As a company that prioritizes improving working conditions, this collaboration felt natural. Together with the youth movement, we developed a native app for monitoring and managing young workers' rights. The goal was to create a simple, accessible platform that helps young people understand their rights and track their working conditions. Throughout the process, we were guided by values of transparency, collaboration, and social justice, with a focus on a lightweight user experience tailored to teenagers to encourage regular, daily use of the app.
Challenges
How do you get teenagers to use yet another app?
The challenge was complex and multi-layered: on one hand, the target audience—teenagers—is flooded with stimuli and not quick to commit to another app, especially for daily use. Topics like pay slips and labor rights are often perceived as "dry" and irrelevant, and there is also the need to build trust to encourage the entry of personal and sensitive information. On the other hand, from a technological standpoint, we needed to build a system that could support hundreds of thousands of users with a smooth user experience optimized for any device.
Solution Approach
Solid preparation is the foundation of a successful app.
We began the process with in-depth market research to see what was already out there and what innovation we could bring to the table. We moved on to cracking the target audience—through interviews, surveys, and questionnaires, we gained insights into the needs and style of potential users. From there, we moved to detailed characterization hand-in-hand with the client, and to designing the app's visual language in a way that would be most precise for the users. We approached the technological challenge with a team of developers with complementary and diverse skills to execute the most important part and ensure the system works. To allow full control over the content, we developed a custom-tailored management system, including full integration with Salesforce—a process that required the use of dedicated integration tools and precise adaptation to the organization's needs.
Result
100,000 users in one year!
The result is an innovative native app that has become a central tool for teenagers working in Israel. Since its launch, it has been downloaded by tens of thousands of teenagers, with 50,000 downloads recorded in a single week alone. The app provides a job board with thousands of positions specifically for teenagers, a time-tracking system, a salary calculator, and a detailed library of rights. For many, this is the first time they are exposed to their workplace rights, which contributes to a better understanding and realization of those rights. Additionally, the app allows for the automatic calculation of compensation, arrears, and vacation days, and provides a pay slip simulation with explanations. 'Avoda Plus' sets a new standard in making information and rights accessible to young workers.
