Revamping the home-cooked meal ordering experience for Tom’s Happy Kitchen

Tom’s Happy Kitchen specializes in healthy, vegetarian home cooking. Our collaboration began with a business consulting and development process, where we worked with Tom to identify areas for improvement on her existing website. We started by focusing on the subscription area, which allows users to select meals based on a pre-set, recurring plan.
Challenges
Turning a complex ordering process into a simple, seamless experience
During the onboarding phase, Tom personally guides users to help them choose the right subscription plan. Once onboarded, users manage their orders independently. Because Tom’s customer base is diverse and includes people with varying levels of tech-savviness, the design needed to present ordering components in a simple, clear way. Our challenge was to ensure the design communicated effectively with users without requiring external assistance.
Solution Approach
A flexible interface that adapts to the subscription type
The service’s ordering process involves many variables, requiring a thorough UX design phase. This included mapping out the various subscription plans and providing visual feedback to guide users through each step of the process. We placed a strong emphasis on creating a clear hierarchy for every piece of information in the system, making it easier for users to scan and ensuring visual and logical consistency.

By listening to Tom and understanding her business needs and goals, we defined clear, measurable objectives.
